Friends of the Australian Ballet (SA) in association with Bloch Australia and The Australian Ballet, have come together once again for the Create Initiative which works to support the beautiful works of art performed by The Australian Ballet. Conceived by Rachel Gelis and Michelle Leslie from Friends of the Australian Ballet (SA) Inc, the Create Initiative along with raising funds for The Australian Ballet also engages the Australian community with the magical & enchanting world of ballet.
With pointe shoes being a beacon of prominence for a Ballet dancer, they are the basis of Create with designers across the country being invited to embellish their own pointe shoe.
“These are the shoes that every tiny dancer dreams of wearing and ever ballet lover reveres. When fitted they enable a person to transcend the ordinary and become a swan, a princess or even a mischievous sprite. They are the bearers of fairytale and beauty.” - The Friends of The Australian Ballet.
In the 2013 Create, 37 designers collaborated with Bloch and created their own works of art that were mounted in glass domes then auctioned at the Byron Kennedy Hall at the Entertainment Quarter in Sydney.
We were delighted to take part in this and created "Cygnus D'amour". Inspired by the beauty and magic of Swan Lake, this design represented the feminine, magical, sparkling and glamorous aesthetic of the Sarina Suriano brand, as well as the beauty that is continuously represented by The Australian Ballet.
We are thrilled to take part in the 2015 Create and we can’t wait to share our new design with you shortly!
